Technology Upgradation & Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) has concluded the first phase of three month duration trainings conducted under the project of Supporting TVET Programme in KP and FATA. In the first phase of trainings, TUSDEC has launched three month training programmes in confluence with 18 training institutes from all across KP and FATA region and trained a pool of 599 students in market driven trades assessed through comprehensive baseline assessment.
In cognizance of its objective, TUSDEC has joined hands with the Delegation of European Union to Pakistan to implement a project supporting TVET sector through training 12000 men and women from the vulnerable communities of KP and FATA region. The aim is to train the modest tribal communities making them a part of mainstream economy by transforming them into skilled and adroit manpower for the private sector industry.

A pragmatic approach of strengthening the TVET sector was espoused by forging partnerships with 30 local training institutes of the rock strewn province. The training methodology was ascertained to be comprehensive, meticulously blending the theoretical and practical training components to converge the demand for skilled workforce. The trainings will be closely monitored and supervised to ensure the dissemination of market driven curricula and certification by Trade Testing Board (TTB) and Skill Development Council (SDC) will mitigate the hindrances prevailing in the dissemination of market-oriented vocational trainings, according to the company spokesperson. The entire framework is mechanized to enhance better employment prospects leading towards social inclusion and amelioration for sustainable livelihood opportunities, added by the company source.
A pool of 599 students mastered the craft of plumbing, electrician, welding, woodwork, tailoring, embroidery and mason. These students were trained in 18 TVET institutes housed across twenty districts of KP. Subsequent to the trainings, the students appeared in the examination conducted by TTB and the entire examination process was proctored by TUSDEC – EU and TTB team for transparency. The graduates of the project will be extended with full support to pin-down the employment prospects through mobilising and engaging private sector for paid or self employability.
