TUSDEC was awarded the project by UNDP Pakistan for interventions under its ‘’Youth Employment Program” through project titled ‘’Delivery of human resource services in the form of capacity development, training and job placement services in Sindh in the construction, logistics, retail and automobile sectors’’.
The followings were the major deliverables of the project:
- HR based Need Assessment of sectors
- Approved training plan for 1,000 trainees in 4 sectors in at least 8 private sector firms
- Training Report for first batch of 500 trainees
- Training report for second batch of 500 trainees
- Consultancy report covering technical assistance to at least 8 private sector firms to improve their human resource strategy and procedures to increase youth employment industries
- Final Report
A rapid Human Resource Based need assessment survey was conducted by TUSDEC in four sectors focusing on the creation of employment opportunities with respect to the sectors and trades identified already in the Request for proposal. After analyzing the data collected during survey, it was observed that there is an immense potential of new employment and need of skilled workforce in selected sectors due to the growing industry in the Country.
Subsequently, the trades were adjusted based on the feedback of the relevant stakeholders to train 1000 trainees in the above mentioned four sectors. The trainings started in January 2019.
Through the completion of first & Second batch, TUSDEC successfully trained 1026 trainees and facilitated employment of trainees in collaboration with private sector firms covering the following trades and firms.

TUSDEC engaged the above-mentioned private sector organizations for offering trainings. TUSDEC conducted a rigorous marketing campaign through the social and print media. Banners, Flyers, Advertisement in Newspaper and community mobilization activities were conducted to find/reach the potential students.
Trainees were enrolled and interviewed by TUSDEC in collaboration with the partner organizations. Prescreening tests were conducted to further check the suitability of the trainees. Trainee data was collected through training selection form. Training activities were conducted in the best suitable way and keeping in view the market and employer needs. Trainees were given theory as well as practical sessions through on job training activities at the outlets and factory areas of Partner organizations. Post assessment tests were conducted from the trainees and certificates were distributed to the successful trainees.
Training in Thar was also conducted in collaboration with Engro Foundation in the HTV and LTV Driving. Further new training avenues were explored and training in the new trades like Call Centre Training was conducted at Caritas and OJT venues were at TCS, TRG & e-Planet etc. One of the major and significant contribution was the Training of more than 140 females conducted in the Retail Sector in collaboration with Private sector. These trainings for females added a great value for the women empowerment in the society.
TUSDEC provided technical assistance to private sector firms to improve their human resource strategy and procedures to increase youth employment.
Inputs were sought during face-to-face interviews with Human Resource representatives of partner organizations. TUSDEC analyzed information and consolidate findings which covered opportunities, strengths, challenges and recommendations to increase youth employments. A detailed report was prepared and presented to partner organizations. FUNVERKS Karachi , a HR consultancy firm, was hired to assist TUSDEC for this component.
Despite of the numerous challenges and time constraints, TUSDEC strived hard to achieve the desired outcome of the project. TUSDEC is also thankful to UNDP for providing required support during the project and having trust in TUSDEC in making this project a success.
TUSDEC would like to continue working with UNDP in the future projects as well for inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development of Pakistan.
