The PC-II of Industrial Technology Benchmarking approved by Development Working Party (DWP) of PIDC held on 24th November 2017 at a cost of Rs. 36.34 Million to be fully funded by PIDC. The scope of work included the technology benchmarking of surgical sector (Electro medical devices and Dental & surgical implants) and cutlery sector.
The study facilitated in addressing the need of technology advancement for the Surgical and Cutlery sectors. These sectors were supported in entering high value markets through engagement of experts for identification of demand based & value-added products and subsequently develop workable proposals / PC-1s for catering medium to long term requirements of these potential sectors for technology up-gradation: establishment of CFCs & Incubation Centres, technical consultancy, Joint Ventures and development of lending programs to support industries etc.
TUSDEC hired the consultants through international competitive bidding to carry out the benchmarking study. The experts of consultant firms engaged local industry through meetings, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Interviews to form a technical working group of stakeholders from both sectors representing local industry, public sector organizations / departments and academia. The consultant(s) / experts assessed the state of local industry and identified a range of high value products that were produced. The consultants along with working groups finalized the list of high value products from each of these sectors. TUSDEC achieved all the objectives of the project timely and handed it over to PIDC for its subsequent completion of remaining activities.
Based on the findings / recommendations of the working group and associated experts, PC-1s developed to assist the potential sectors for entering the high value market.
