NIDA Peshawar; May 2015: NIDA (National Institute of Design and Analysis) Peshawar centre has concluded a 04 day (April 27th 2015 to April 30th 2015) IOSH –UK training session of “Managing Safely” for seventeen government department representatives. The training was sponsored by Directorate of Science & Technology (DoST), Government of KP and conducted in confluence with WISH (World Institute of Health & Safety) who is also an IOSH UK certified training providers in Pakistan. To impart the technical training course, NIDA Peshawar arranged Mr. Samee-ur-Rehman, a proficient and authorized trainer of IOSH-UK, who apprised the participants with astutely developed course contents. Participants of the session were acquainted with requisite skills and capabilities to recognize safety & health hazards, assess risks in the workplace, apply key controls for mitigation & prevention, understand the significance of their role, identify strategies to resolve incidents/emergencies and communicate effectively on issues pertaining to health and safety. According to the company source, NIDA Peshawar has conducted this specialized training programme realizing the significance of Work Safety fundamental to the success of any organization. He further added that the content of the programme is designed to cater to the needs of local industry and delegates the knowledge desired to ensure safety in the workplace to prevent accidents. The session also imparted the ‘cascading process’ to the participants in order to enable them to transmute their knowledge among peers. Project Manager at NIDA Peshawar centre shared that the institute is penetrative in its planning to organize further workshops and training programmes in order to enable multiple training and development opportunities for public and private sector.
Towards the end of the session, Director DoST, as an honorary guest, exchanged views with the participants on the significance of Health and Safety in Workplace and provided them a forum to share their expectations with regard to the effectiveness of training for their respective departments. Upon the training conclusion, Director DoST distributed souvenirs from NIDA-Peshawar among the participants.
