Press Release: Lahore – A certificate distribution ceremony has been organized at TUSDEC head office on 31 March 2015, at the culmination of a three month training program, to award certificates to the first batch of solar technicians trained by TUSDEC. In the verve of technology sophistication and skill development to uplift the local industry, TUSDEC has joined hands with PSDF (Punjab Skills Development Fund) to foster the renewable energy sector in the country. The project is being implemented under the indicant of Skills for Job 2014 -2015. The project is aimed at contemporary skills development in the discipline of Solar Technology among the disadvantaged youth of Punjab. A company spokesman said that TUSDEC will enroll 75 candidates hailing from various districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Narowal, in the breakdown of three batches to be trained in the area of photovoltaics. The overall project duration is stretched over one year where each course will be extended for a span of three months.
In pursuance of the project realization, TUSDEC has contrived a market-oriented training curriculum and the prime focus of trainings is on feasibility designing, site inspections, system sizing, system installation, system handover & troubleshooting of grid tied system, Off grid system, hybrid system, tube well system and lighting system etc; which will enable the trainees to serve productively in the approaching industry. Further the solar lab at NIDA Lahore has been outfitted with the most modern equipment to punctuate focus on practical trainings for expeditious absorption of graduates in the job market. The spokesman further shared that TUSDEC has integrated modules of safety and entrepreneurship in the curricula for a more effective training delivery. He added that TUSDEC’s comprehensive training programme will produce dexterous solar technicians who would fuel up the proliferation of solar technology by setting up small workshops/service centres or as paid employees/free-lance technicians to facilitate the solar industry with their installation, repair/maintenance and trouble shooting problems. TUSDEC is a pioneer in solar technology training in Pakistan and further aims to take a forward looking approach in technical trainings by developing skills in innovative employable trades that are at par with international level in order to produce competitive and productive workforce. The development of productive workforce will render sustainable livelihood generation and ultimately contribute in catalyzing national development.
